More than 1,400 sildenafil pills and four bottles of male sexual enhancers were seized at the Bilbao airport

  • One of the actions resulted in the seizure of 764 sexual enhancement pills and four bottles from a passenger from Senegal, attributing to him the authorship of a crime against public health in the area of medicines.

  • In the other two arrests, reports were issued for smuggling violations, the first for a passenger also from Senegal who was carrying 400 male sexual stimulator tablets and the second for a passenger from Colombia, who was carrying 292 sildenafil pills.

  • The arrests took place on three different flights that were destined for the Bilbao airport.

July 4, 2023.- Officials from the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency together with Civil Guards from the Tax and Border Section of the Bilbao airport have seized 1,456 sildenafil pills and four sexual enhancer bottles in three different performances and on the same day.

The investigators of the Customs Surveillance Service and the Civil Guard who act as the State Fiscal Guard, under the functional dependence of the Regional Customs and II.EE Unit. of the Basque Country of the AEAT, carry out, among other actions, daily inspections of passengers and luggage according to preventive risk criteria at the Bilbao airport.

On June 20, they carried out a review and inspection of the luggage carried by a traveler coming from Senegal via Lisbon, who had previously stated that he was not carrying anything that could be declared at the customs facility.

The agents discovered inside a suitcase that was part of his luggage, 312 200 mg pills, 120 150 mg pills, 160 100 mg pills and 172 50 mg pills, all of them containing the same component of sildenafil citrate, along with four 50 ml gel bottles of the same excipient.

Due to these events, the drugs were seized, attributing to the passenger the authorship of a crime against public health regarding medications.

This action was not the only one carried out that same day regarding male sexual enhancement medications. On another flight from Senegal, but this time with a stopover in Madrid, the agents found 400 100 mg sildenafil pills in the checked luggage of a passenger, seized the tablets and drew up a report - complaint for contraband violation in matters of medicines for the traveler.

The third arrest was made on a flight from Colombia and also via Madrid, when a passenger's luggage was inspected, in which 292 50 mg sildenafil tablets were found among his personal belongings. The agents proceeded to arrest him and report the passenger for the same facts as in the previous case.

It should be noted that the three operations were carried out on the same day and on different flights, with the perpetrators presumably having no relationship with each other.
