The Tax Agency and the National Police prevent the distribution of nearly 4,000 doses of methamphetamine in Seville

Drug trafficking in Seville is dealt a blow

  • During the search, investigators also seized two kilos of GBL, known as a drug involved in sexual assaults.

July 6, 2023.- Officials from the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and agents from the National Police have carried out a joint operation against drug trafficking in Seville and have arrested a man with nearly 4,000 doses of methamphetamine in Seville.

Operation Meta

At the end of June, in the Santa Catalina neighborhood, agents intercepted an individual who was being investigated for international methamphetamine trafficking, in possession of a package from the United States containing approximately 60 grams of crystal meth. This amount doubles the amount established as of notable importance by the Legal System. In this way, the distribution of nearly 4,000 doses of 'crystal' in the capital of Seville has been avoided.

Methamphetamine hydrochloride occurs in clear, ice-like crystals; When these crystals are ground, they can be inhaled or smoked. This substance is much more dangerous for the body than amphetamines.

Likewise, after carrying out surveillance devices prior to the seizure of the drugs, the agents proceeded to enter and search the detainee's home, finding two kilos of GBL, known as a drug involved in sexual assault.

It is a metabolic precursor to liquid ecstasy. The ingestion of just a few drops of GBL orally causes its hydrolysis, transforming into the subject's organism, managing to cause the same effects as liquid ecstasy.

Along with the GBL, the agents seized multiple bottles with drip dispensers, for alleged distribution to third parties, syringes and other items for the distribution of the substance, along with other drugs.

Permanent fight against drug trafficking

For these reasons, the officers proceeded to arrest the individual accused of drug trafficking, and he and the seized items were placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court number 17 of Seville, on duty.

The investigation was carried out within the ongoing collaboration between the Customs Surveillance Service and the National Police in the fight against drug trafficking in the province of Seville.
