Almost three tons of tobacco and 1,500 packs of counterfeit cigarettes seized
November 2, 2023.- The Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency has dismantled a factory dedicated to the illegal production of cigarettes that had its operations center in the town of Villaverde del Río, Seville.
The operation, called 'Pole', took place on October 16 when agents of the Seville Operational Unit detected suspicious movements of vehicles in an industrial warehouse in an industrial estate in the aforementioned town.
Upon inspecting the warehouse from which they had left, the agents discovered machinery, raw materials and cigarettes produced in what was a tobacco factory, managing to seize 2,800 kilos of tobacco and 1,500 packets of counterfeit cigarettes produced by illegal manufacturing, all with a value of over 320,000 euros.
As a result, in addition to the seizure of tobacco, industrial machinery for the production of cigarette packs and the tools for their assembly were seized and two people were arrested for their alleged participation in the crime.
Both the detainees and the seized goods have been placed at the disposal of the Lora del Río Court on duty.
