Three arrested for bringing 18 kilos of cocaine into Mallorca

  • Six months of investigation, led by the Investigative Court 6 of Palma, have led to the arrests and arrest

  • The drugs were hidden in the false bottom of a van in which two of the detainees were traveling. The third, recipient of the stash, traveled that same night in another vehicle and was in charge of distributing it through different neighborhoods of Palma.

November 2, 2023.- The Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and the National Police have proceeded to the arrest of two men and a woman, all of them of Spanish nationality, with ages between 37 and 45, and with various police records, for introducing about 18 kilos of cocaine into the island of Mallorca.

The investigation, initiated months ago by the Customs Surveillance Service, and joined by Group I of Narcotics of the Superior Headquarters of the Balearic Islands, is directed by the Investigative Court No. 6 of Palma. It was created after having knowledge of the activities of a person who would be dedicated to introducing narcotic substances using heated vehicles that travel in the warehouses of shipping companies that operate on the islands.

One of the men and the woman disembarked last Tuesday in the port of Palma, originating in Barcelona, aboard a van to go directly to the home of the third detainee, where they were intercepted. The narcotic substance was found in a hidden compartment of the van and on the illicit market it would be worth more than half a million euros.

The agents have been able to confirm the collusion between the two men, since both met at different points in Catalonia, subsequently traveling in separate vehicles and on different boats to Mallorca the same night, as a security measure.

Furthermore, during the investigation it was found that one of those investigated had been distributing cocaine in different neighborhoods in Palma, known for the existence of retail drug sales points.

Recent drug seizures show that port areas are one of the largest entry routes for narcotic substances in Mallorca.

The three detainees were placed at the disposal of the Investigative Court number 9 of Palma, acting as guard, which ordered the entry into prison of two of those investigated.
