  • A woman arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health for drug cultivation and trafficking

November 27, 2023.- Customs Surveillance Officials from the Tax Agency in Motril have dismantled a marijuana production center belonging to a criminal group based in Cijuela (Granada) and have arrested a woman as alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health for drug cultivation and trafficking.

The operation, called 'Romero 2', began last October, when Customs Surveillance officials in Motril learned of the existence of a marijuana production center in the town of Cijuela that belonged to a criminal group.

After the investigations carried out, the production center was located, which was a home. In addition, it was found out that some of the people involved had already been investigated previously.

After conclusively verifying that there was a marijuana plantation inside the house located, Customs Surveillance investigators proceeded to enter and search, finding in the basement of the house a large infrastructure for growing marijuana. Immediately, 349 'cannabis sativa' plants in an advanced state of flowering were seized, already prepared to be cut.

In addition, various machinery and products necessary for indoor marijuana cultivation were found in the house, such as fans, carbon filters, water pumps, air conditioning compressors, phytosanitary products and a large number of halogen light bulbs.

Subsequently, the drugs were transferred to the offices of the Customs Surveillance Operational Unit of Motril, where the corresponding police proceedings were carried out.

Both the detained woman, of Spanish nationality, and the seized goods have been placed at the disposal of the Investigative Court of Santa Fe (Granada), on guard duty.

The investigation remains open, so it is not ruled out that there will be new arrests in the coming days.
