• The detainee is a 58-year-old Lithuanian man with no criminal record.
• The dismantled facility had two hydroponic crops, a drying room and a germination cabinet.
• During the search, 5.5 kilos of packaged chopped marijuana, 1.8 kilos of flowering tops of marijuana, 27 plants in an advanced state of flowering and 145 smaller plants were seized.
• A crossbow pistol, 180 cartridges of different calibres and a vacuum sealer were also seized on the same property.

Officials from the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency of Motril, in a joint operation with Agents of the National Police, have arrested in a rural property in that same town a man of Lithuanian nationality and 58 years of age with no police record, as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of drug trafficking and electricity fraud after having located inside his home a facility with hydroponic crops, 172 marijuana plants and more than seven kilos between sap and flowering tops of the same species.

The police investigation began after receiving certain information that indicated a rural property in the town of Motril was a possible site for growing and processing marijuana. After carrying out the appropriate investigations, the entry and search of the property and its adjoining premises was ordered.

Once inside the property, the interior of a two-story building used as the home of the detainee and his family was examined. On the first floor and in the entrance hall, the agents found a germination cabinet with two halogen spotlights, a humidifier and an air extractor, as well as a tray with 120 marijuana plants in the process of germination and development. In the same hall, a shelf with a crossbow pistol and ammunition for it was also found.

The search continued through the kitchen, where two refrigerators were found. In the first one, a bag with more than 640 grams of chopped marijuana was found, and in the second one, another bag with nearly 970 grams of the same substance. A vacuum packing machine and its corresponding bags were discovered in the adjoining pantry. 180 cartridges of different calibers were seized on the shelves of the pantry.

Hydroponic crops

Inside the house, a room was discovered with a hydroponic cultivation system equipped with the necessary aeration, lighting and ventilation systems, in which 27 cannabis sativa plants were installed in an advanced state of development and flowering. In another room, the agents seized around 1,400 grams of marijuana buds contained in a hermetically sealed bucket.

On the second floor, two rooms were searched, one of which was found to be used as a drying room. Inside, 50 grams of buds in the process of drying and various buckets containing 165 grams of chopped marijuana and another 335 grams of buds were seized.

In a second building, a second hydroponic crop was found with the harvest already collected and about 3,800 grams of chopped marijuana.

The entire infrastructure was supplied through an illegal connection to the electrical grid. The detainee has already been placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
