Seven marijuana production centers dismantled in the province of Granada

April 1, 2024.- Customs Surveillance Officials of the Tax Agency and agents of the Civil Guard, within the framework of the 'Chume' operation, they have dismantled seven marijuana production centers in the Granada towns of Cijuela and Chimeneas. In this operation, a total of 2,180 'cannabis sativa' plants in different stages of flowering have been seized.

In the context of this operation, seven people have been arrested for crimes of drug cultivation and manufacturing and for a minor crime of electricity fraud, while another 13 have been investigated for the minor crime of electricity fraud.

The investigators discovered, with the help of technicians from the electricity supply company, that there were at least 20 illegal double connections to the electrical network in homes in the towns of Cijuela and Chimeneas.

After carrying out a series of measurements in these homes, high electricity consumption was found in seven of them, so it was suspected that the residents could be cultivating 'cannabis sativa' intensively.

After obtaining judicial authorization to search the suspicious homes, the Customs Surveillance and Civil Guard agents proceeded to the searches and in the seven homes they found all the necessary infrastructure for the cultivation and processing of marijuana, as well as the 2,180 marijuana plants.
