February 13, 2024.- Customs Surveillance Officials from the Tax Agency and Udyco agents from the Almería Provincial Police Station, in a joint operation, have seized two kilos of cocaine that were impregnated in two hammocks that had been sent to Vera (Almería) through a parcel company.

The operation began two months ago, when there was suspicion that a parcel company in the province of Almería was being used to introduce narcotic substances, specifically cocaine from South American countries.

After carrying out various checks, the presence of a shipment that came from Argentina, via Germany, destined for Vera, was detected, which raised the suspicions of the investigators. The contents of the package were two hammocks weighing about 20 kilos.

After carrying out different drug detection tests, the researchers confirmed that cocaine was found impregnated in the leather of the hammocks.

From this moment on, the monitored delivery of the shipment was requested in order to identify the person responsible.

As a consequence of the controlled delivery, on January 25, the recipient of the package, a Spanish national and resident of Vera, was arrested and brought to justice.

Investigations continue, in order to determine the identity of the rest of the people involved. The judicial authority in charge of the investigation is Court number 3 of Vera (Almería).
