  • 570 "cannabis sativa" plants seized

June 21, 2024.- The Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard have dismantled a marijuana production center in the town of Otura (Granada). In this operation, agents have seized 570 'cannabis sativa' plants in an advanced state of flowering. A woman has been investigated for the crimes of drug cultivation and manufacturing and for a crime of electricity fraud.

The investigators discovered, with the help of technicians from the electricity supply company, that there were at least three illegal double connections to the electrical network in three homes in the town of Otura.

After carrying out a series of measurements in these homes, a high electricity consumption was found in one of them, so it was suspected that the residents could be intensively cultivating cannabis sativa.

After obtaining authorization to search the suspicious home, the agents proceeded to the search and inside they found all the infrastructure necessary for the cultivation and production of marijuana, as well as 570 'cannabis sativa' plants with flowering tops.

The agents discovered that in the other two homes investigated there were illegal connections to the electrical grid and their owners have been investigated for a crime of electricity fraud. Meanwhile, Endesa operators took advantage of the police presence to safely dismantle these three illegal connections to the network.
