One arrested for trying to introduce 2.8 kilos of marijuana buds into Cantabria

  • The drug came in a package from Italy and was subject to controlled delivery after initially being detected in Barcelona.

March 12, 2024.- Customs Surveillance Officials of the Tax Agency in Cantabria have proceeded to the arrest of a man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health for drug trafficking, and 2.8 kilos of marijuana buds and 500 grams of 'cannabis' pollen have been seized.

The action began after the communication received on March 4 at the Regional Customs Surveillance Operational Unit of Barcelona, ​​in which those responsible for the company that transported the package with the drugs reported the discovery of a shipment in its facilities in Barcelona. which, when examined by X-rays, presented densities compatible with narcotic substances.

Immediately, Customs Surveillance officials in Barcelona appeared at those facilities and proceeded to inspect the package, finding that it contained prohibited substances. Subsequently, authorization was required from the judicial authority to carry out a supervised delivery of the package to its final recipient.

Once the authorization was received, the package was delivered by Customs Surveillance officials in Cantabria to its recipient, HMG, owner of a 'grow shop' in the town of Renedo de Piélagos, immediately proceeding to its arrest and being placed at the disposal of the Santander Guard Court. Subsequently, the search of his commercial premises was carried out.

The drugs came from Italy, from where it had been sent through a parcel company. The owner of the premises also had a sales channel on the internet through a website.

'Grow shop'

'Grow shops' are stores specialized in advising and selling products for growing 'cannabis'. The store sells the necessary material and tools to carry out the entire cultivation process.
