March 26, 2024.- The Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency, in coordination with the Civil Guard, has carried out different operations in recent days, within the framework of the fight against criminal organizations dedicated to drug trafficking. These actions have focused on the Andalusian coast, especially at points on the Cadiz coast and the Guadalquivir riverbed, resulting in the arrest of five people.

In addition, a total of six boats have been seized, four of them semi-rigid and two smaller ones, supposedly used for logistical support of the organization. Likewise, 400 liters of fuel intended to supply the semi-rigid boats have been seized.

One of the operations involved the collaboration of the Portuguese National Republican Guard (GNR), which resulted in the arrest of one person and the seizure of one of the vessels, after being pursued by a patrol boat of the Maritime Service heading towards the town of Faro (Portugal).

All these actions are part of the services developed by the Tax Agency's Customs Surveillance Service, in coordination with units of the Civil Guard, within the IV Special Security Plan for Campo de Gibraltar, to combat organizations dedicated to drug trafficking.

Units from the Combined Customs Surveillance Units of the Tax Agency in Algeciras, Cádiz, Huelva and Málaga have participated in the different operations to intercept these vessels, in coordination with units of the Civil Guard belonging to the commands of these localities, as well as agents from the Maritime Coordination and Surveillance Centre of the Civil Guard, the Rapid Action Group and the Air Service.
