May 10, 2024.- Officials from the Tax Agency and agents from the Tax Guard of the Civil Guard, in a joint operation, have seized 4,000 packets of contraband tobacco within the premises of the Farga de Moles Customs Office and have arrested a person accused of committing an alleged crime of smuggling.

The intervention took place at around 10:00 p.m. on May 3, when a vehicle from Andorra entered the Farga de Moles Customs Office via the green lane (nothing to declare).

After carrying out a visual inspection, the agents observed several packages hidden under cleaning materials, clothing and other objects in the back of the vehicle.

Upon inspection of the interior, the existence of large bags containing numerous packets of tobacco was discovered. The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old man of Armenian nationality, admitted to being the owner of the tobacco discovered.

Due to the officers' suspicions, a second, more thorough inspection was carried out, locating more items in various cavities of the vehicle. A total of 4,000 packets were found, valued at 21,800 euros.

Once the goods were verified, officials from the Travel Service of the Tax Agency's offices proceeded to instruct proceedings for the alleged commission of a smuggling crime, with the driver being arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crime and the seized goods being placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
