A marijuana plantation was dismantled in Puerto Real (Cádiz)

  • More than 107 kilos of marijuana plants that were in an advanced state of flowering have been seized

  • Two individuals arrested for their alleged involvement in the events

October 10, 2024.- The Combined Unit of the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency in Cádiz, in collaboration with the Local Police Headquarters of Puerto Real, has carried out an operation that has resulted in the dismantling of an outdoor marijuana plantation ( Cannabis Sativa in its psychotropic variety) in the town of Puerto Real (Cádiz).

The operation called 'Olivar' was established on October 1 and took place on a property that was accessed via a right-of-way, used exclusively by the owners and other people related to the plot. These discreet locations are used by criminal organisations that take advantage of the low traffic and the ease with which they detect the presence of anyone not connected to the plantations.

As a result of investigations carried out by the Cadiz Customs Surveillance Service and the Puerto Real Local Police, two segregated partitions were detected within the parent property on whose land marijuana cultivation and production activities were being carried out.

Once the alleged perpetrators were identified, entry and registration was requested from the Court of First Instance and Instruction on duty in Puerto Real, and 21 marijuana plants in an advanced state of flowering were seized, proceeding to the arrest of two individuals of Spanish nationality for the commission of alleged crimes of smuggling and against public health.

The seized substance weighed more than 107 kilos, including green plants and marijuana buds, which would have reached a value on the black market of around 200,000 euros.

The psychotropic substance seized and the detainees were placed at the disposal of the Mixed Court No. 2 of Puerto Real on duty, awaiting a decision by the holder of the same.
