December 3, 2025. Members of the Risk Analysis Unit of the Bilbao airport Customs, made up of officials from the Tax Agency and agents of the Civil Guard, have seized 114 mobile phones without customs declaration at Bilbao airport that were intended for sale in Guinea.

The operation took place in early October, when the Bilbao airport customs carried out a tax check of luggage on a flight bound for Paris with a connection to third countries.

During the inspection through the 'x-ray' machine of three checked suitcases with end-use to Conakry (Guinea), the civil guards visualized on the screen a multitude of small boxes or containers inside the checked luggage.

After opening the suitcases, in the presence of the passenger, a total of 114 mobile terminals were found in their original boxes and perfectly sealed, valued at 9,300 euros.

When asked for a customs declaration, the passenger stated that he did not possess the documentation and that the phones were intended for sale in a store he owned, located in Guinea.

The agents proceeded to seize the merchandise and filed the corresponding complaint for administrative offense of smuggling, leaving the goods deposited in customs facilities at the disposal of the authorities.
