Ten kilos of cocaine have been seized in a backpack, hidden among the cargo of a truck.
July 2, 2025.- Customs Surveillance officers from the Tax Agency in Ibiza and the Civil Guard of the Balearic Islands, as part of a joint inspection conducted by the Risk Analysis Unit (UAR), have arrested a person suspected of committing a crime against public health (drug trafficking).
On June 28, 2025, while conducting a routine check of vehicles and passengers at the port of Ibiza, officers inspected several vehicles, including heavy goods vehicles.
In one of them, officers observed a high degree of nervousness on the part of the driver, which raised suspicions about the possible presence of illegal objects or substances. After identifying the driver, a Spanish man from Ciudad Real, he began to display inconsistencies in his responses to the officers' requests.
The truck's cargo bed was then inspected, where legal merchandise consisting of automobile spare parts was found. Among the cargo, a sports bag was found, the strong chemical odor of which was detected by the Civil Guard dog. Inside, ten brick-shaped packages were found, weighing 10 kilos in total. After being tested with a drug detection reagent, they tested positive for cocaine.
The officers were particularly struck by the fact that the cargo box lacked the required seals, an aspect routinely checked by the Risk Analysis Unit in tax matters.
Following this discovery, a thorough inspection of the rest of the vehicle was carried out, and the driver was immediately arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health.
The Ibiza Duty Court was subsequently informed of the events, and the detainee was placed at the disposal of the court.
