2,500 kilos of hashish seized in a truck at the port of Ibiza

  • The driver of the vehicle was arrested after the intervention carried out as part of the random checks on the transport of goods via ferry.

July 21, 2025.- Customs Surveillance from the Tax Agency, the Civil Guard, and the National Police have arrested the driver of a truck transporting 2,500 kilos of hashish hidden in the back of the vehicle as it was about to board a ferry in the port of Ibiza.

Last Thursday, July 17, during preventive controls jointly carried out by Customs Surveillance, the Civil Guard, and the National Police, which are carried out randomly on the transport of goods, a refrigerated truck was inspected at the port of Ibiza as it was attempting to embark for Valencia.

During the inspection, 2,500 kilos of hashish were found inside the refrigerated box, hidden among the rest of the merchandise, leading to the arrest of its driver, a 54-year-old man.

These types of controls are part of the special system for controlling cargo on ferries, many of which are carried out jointly by the three agencies, in order to prevent all types of illicit activities and guarantee public safety.

Two arrests in one week

Last Wednesday, July 9, as part of the same "Summer" operation, 675 kilos of cocaine were seized in the port of Valencia, hidden inside a truck that had just disembarked a ferry from Ibiza.

Thanks to the help of the dog handlers, one of the dogs marked the truck, and after opening it, the cocaine stash was found.

On this occasion, the driver of the vehicle, a 53-year-old man, was also arrested.
