July 25, 2025.- Customs Surveillance officers from the Tax Agency and National Police officers, as part of the joint operation "Medusa/Amnesia," have dismantled a criminal organization based in the Seville town of Cabezas de San Juan, dedicated to the cultivation and subsequent distribution of large quantities of narcotics, primarily marijuana, destined for third countries.

Agents arrested 27 people and seized a ton of marijuana, among other narcotics, and several firearms during 24 raids and searches. A high-end vehicle was also seized, and two stolen vehicles were recovered, along with more than €40,000 in cash.

'Modus operandi'

The investigation began earlier this year, jointly conducted by Customs Surveillance officers from the Tax Agency and National Police officers, when they learned of the operations of a criminal organization primarily dedicated to drug trafficking and located in the aforementioned town of Seville.

As the investigation progressed, it became clear the modus operandi of this criminal network, which, despite being based in Cabezas de San Juan, harvested marijuana from a multitude of crops located in various homes in the districts of Marismillas and Vetaherrado (Seville).

In different towns in the province, they subsequently packaged and labeled the buds, from where they began their route north to the country for export, using rented or stolen vehicles with false license plates, to towns near the land border with France for export to third countries.

More than 250 agents in the operation

After corroborating all the evidence, a large police operation was carried out, involving more than 250 officers, to carry out a total of 24 raids and searches at the homes of the detainees, as well as at plots of land the organization used for the production, storage, and preparation of the merchandise.

These operations culminated in the seizure of a ton of marijuana and other narcotics such as hashish, cocaine, and MDMA, as well as numerous firearms, including two military weapons, silencers, and ammunition. Officers seized more than 40,000 euros in cash and a high-end vehicle, and recovered two stolen vehicles.

As a result of this operation, 27 members of this network were arrested and brought to justice for their involvement in crimes of belonging to a criminal group, drug trafficking, illegal weapons possession, vehicle theft, receiving stolen goods, document falsification, and electricity fraud. The investigation was conducted by officials from the Tax Agency's Customs Surveillance Operational Unit in Seville and agents from Group III of the Udyco of the Seville Bppj of the National Police.
