  • During the operation, six individuals were arrested for the crimes of criminal organization, against public health, smuggling and illegal possession of weapons.

July 28, 2025.- The Tax Agency's Customs Surveillance Unit, in collaboration with the Civil Guard and National Police, has dismantled a criminal organization involved in drug trafficking and petaqueo (a drug trafficking operation) off the Granada coast as part of Operation Nazarí 2 Redman. Agents seized 360 kilos of hashish, a firearm, 21 mobile phones, 7,660 liters of gasoline, 1,928 packs of cigarettes, two micro cameras, a storage device, 47,310 euros, a semi-rigid boat, and a car.

During the exploitation phase of this operation, six individuals were arrested for organized crime, public health violations, smuggling, and illegal weapons possession in the towns of Albuñol, La Guapa-Polopos, Sorvilán, Motril, and Adra (Almería).

Investigators from the Tax Agency's Customs Surveillance Service in Motril, in collaboration with the Organized Crime and Anti-Drug Team (EDOA) of the Organic Judicial Police Unit of the Civil Guard of Granada and the Judicial Police Brigade of the National Police of Motril, carried out this operation, which began last September after detecting several vans with a large quantity of fuel canisters. This incident led investigators to believe that there might be a criminal group involved in petaqueo, an activity aimed at providing fuel to vessels used for drug trafficking.

As the investigation progressed, agents identified the members of this criminal group based on the eastern coast of Granada. In addition to petaqueo, they also smuggled drugs by sea.

Agents discovered that they were using a warehouse located in the town of Torvizcón to hide the drugs. In the first phase, carried out earlier this month, investigators searched the warehouse and found 360 kilos of hashish, a pistol, and two cell phones.

On July 18, a second phase of this operation took place when officers conducted eight searches in different locations along Granada's eastern coast and arrested six people.

After being brought before the court, five of them were imprisoned, and the sixth was released after posting bail.
