July 31, 2025.- Officials from the Tax Agency's Customs Surveillance Operational Unit in Tenerife, in a joint operation with Civil Guard officers from the Tax and Border Section of the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, have arrested a woman as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking crime as part of the tax inspection points they have been carrying out at the dock upon arrival of liner vessels.
During the operation, the defendant was identified as driving a large car, which aroused the officers' suspicions due to the vehicle's obvious overweight, as well as her nervous demeanor during the interview with the officers.
Furthermore, a strong smell of cannabis was coming from inside the vehicle, which is why the officers decided to carry out an exhaustive inspection of the vehicle's interior, finding a total of 300 kg of narcotic substance hidden in the trunk and under the seats, which, after performing the corresponding test, tested positive for hashish.
The detainee, along with the seized substance and the proceedings carried out, was placed at the disposal of Investigative Court No. 5 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with the judicial authority ordering provisional detention for the accused.
