June 16, 2025.- Customs Surveillance officers from the Tax Agency in Extremadura, in collaboration with National Police officers assigned to the Almendralejo Police Station, have arrested a man suspected of committing a crime against public health, specifically drug trafficking.
The incident came to light through information received from the Customs Surveillance Service in Extremadura, related to the alleged purchase by a man who runs a bar in the town of Almendralejo of a substance called GBL, or "liquid ecstasy."
Due to the danger of this substance, which could nullify the will of the person who takes it, both Customs Surveillance and the National Police immediately established a control device on the establishment, where distribution tools and 100 ml distribution bottles were located, proceeding at that moment to arrest the suspect as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, specifically drug trafficking.
Subsequently, with the required judicial authorization, a search was carried out at the detainee's home, where more than 100 100 and 150 milliliter bottles were seized, presumably for distribution, along with a 14-kilogram bottle of GBL ("liquid ecstasy"), several mobile phones, and a laptop.
The seized drug, when mixed with water, saliva, or introduced into the body, transforms into liquid ecstasy, which is a strong depressant of the nervous system.
The detainee, a 33-year-old man with a criminal record, has been brought before the Judicial Authority after the relevant report has been processed.
