June 24, 2025.- Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard have carried out the so-called "Alfalfa-Padana" operation, in which 323 kilos of marijuana were seized in a maritime container from the U.S.
The operation began when agents from the Customs Risk Analysis Unit at the Port of Malaga, comprised of officers from the Customs Surveillance Service and Civil Guard agents, discovered a stash of marijuana in a container whose contents were declared as alfalfa.
The drugs were packed in large, vacuum-sealed plastic bags and hidden among more than 4,500 kilos of forage grass that made up the legal merchandise.
The investigation revealed that the drug container was destined for a warehouse located in the town of Padul (Granada) and that the person responsible for importing it was located in Valencia.
For this reason, agents searched the warehouse in the province of Granada and arrested one of the members of the criminal organization who received the marijuana.
Investigators subsequently traveled to the province of Valencia, where they searched another industrial warehouse in the town of Benaguacil and a home in the municipality of Pobla de Vallbona. They arrested another member of the criminal group who ordered the import.
The agents have been able to confirm that, while the logistics for receiving the shipment were arranged in the province of Granada, the management of the import and receipt of the container was managed from Valencia.
Once in our country, the drugs would be transported by road to European countries, the marijuana's end-use.
Similarly, investigators have taken legal action against seven other individuals under investigation, all of them linked to drug importation.
