June 27, 2025.- Officials from the Travel Service of the Customs and Excise Administration of the Tax Agency in Palma and the Civil Guard have seized a suitcase in the arrivals terminal of Palma Airport containing 950 packs of cigarettes, valued at 4,370 euros.
The suitcase belonged to an adult Romanian citizen who was traveling on a flight from Istanbul via Barcelona.
During the inspection of the luggage, using an X-ray detection machine, a large quantity of cigarette packets was observed inside. After opening it, 950 packs of tobacco were found.
Following an administrative inspection, it was determined that the merchandise was not covered by a document proving its ownership or legal introduction into the European Union.
Following the seizure of the merchandise stored at Palma Airport Customs, which was placed at the disposal of its Administrator, a complaint was filed regarding an administrative smuggling violation.
