270 kilos of hashish, marijuana, and cocaine seized in a van traveling on the AP-7 towards France

  • Investigators found 240 kilos of hashish, 26 kilos of marijuana buds and more than two kilos of cocaine in the vehicle's false bottom, and arrested two people.

May 12, 2025.- Customs Surveillance Officers of the Tax Agency in Girona have seized 270 kilos of hashish, marijuana and cocaine that were in a false bottom of a van that was traveling on the AP-7, and have arrested two people for alleged crimes against public health and smuggling.

The operation took place on May 2, when Customs Surveillance investigators established a checkpoint on trucks and freight vehicles on the northbound AP-7 motorway near the French border. In this type of control, Customs officials select trucks and vans transporting merchandise to Europe to check their documentation and, if suspicious, inspect the cargo.

At 00:10 hours, a van with Romanian license plates was seen circulating. The vehicle raised suspicions due to its condition, so the vehicle was stopped. It was discovered that two people were on board who were not the owners of the van, nor did they have any documentation authorizing them to drive it.

Therefore, the vehicle was inspected and found to be empty of merchandise. After a thorough analysis, a false bottom was found in the floor of the van. Inside the false bottom, officers found various narcotic substances and proceeded to seize them.

In total, 25 pressed transparent plastic bags containing marijuana buds weighing 26.75 kilos, 33 transparent plastic bags containing 1,980 hashish tablets weighing 198 kilos, and two sports bags containing 420 hashish tablets weighing 42 kilos and two blocks of cocaine weighing 2.27 kilos were seized.

The two individuals, a man and a woman, were arrested for alleged crimes against public health and smuggling and brought before the Investigative Court No. 4 of Figueres, which is investigating the case.
