April 1, 2026. Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency in Girona and the DIC of the Mossos d'Esquadra, have dismantled a criminal organization based in Figueres, dedicated to the international trafficking of cocaine, hashish and marijuana. The investigation ended on March 24 with the arrest of seven men and three women, aged between 24 and 65, involved in alleged crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, smuggling, crimes against public health, electricity fraud and possession of weapons.
The organization under investigation used several houses located in the town of Figueres as a logistical base. In these properties they received and stored the illicit merchandise to later distribute it mainly to other criminal networks in southern France. The organization also had other homes, warehouses, garages and farms used as 'nurseries' for drugs, in the Salt and Argentona area.
To transport the narcotics, the detainees used various concealment techniques: From vacuum-packed goods transported inside the fuel tank of vehicles, to cars and vans registered to companies with hidden compartments or double bottoms with hydraulic opening systems.
During the investigation, two seizures of 3 and 2.5 kilos of cocaine were made inside the fuel tanks of vehicles from southern France that had arrived in Figueres to obtain this illicit substance and transport it back to France.
Ten entries and records in Figueres, Salt and Argentona
During the exploitation phase of the investigation, a dozen entries and searches were carried out. Six of them took place in properties in Figueres, from where the main suspects operated, along with a final one located in the town of Salt. In this same town, two parking lots used as a 'nursery' to store the drugs were also inspected, along with a plot of land located in Argentona (Maresme).
During these searches, the agents seized weapons of different calibers: a rifle with scope and semi-automatic magazine, two shotguns, three pistols, a revolver and ammunition for each. In addition, indoor marijuana plantations were located, along with 20 kilos of hashish and almost 60,000 euros in vacuum-sealed cash. Various materials for handling, cutting, and packaging cocaine were also seized.
During the course of the investigation, which remains open and in which there could be more arrests, a total of 13 people have been arrested. The proceedings have been conducted by the Court of First Instance and Instruction of Figueres, square 5.
