April 16, 2026. Officials from the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and members of the Civil Guard belonging to the Fiscal and Borders Section of the port of Santander, have proceeded to arrest a 42-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health for drug trafficking in the port of Santander, when he was transporting hidden in a vehicle 920 MDMA (ecstasy) pills, 35 grams of hashish, and other quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana.
Among the services carried out by the Customs Surveillance Service and the Civil Guard through their Fiscal and Border units in the port of Santander, including those against smuggling and the illicit trafficking of narcotics, last Thursday, agents became suspicious of a crane van transporting a buggy and a quad bike during inspections of the boarding operations of vehicles and people on the ferry bound for Plymouth (United Kingdom).
In a more thorough inspection of the three vehicles, investigators found two cardboard boxes in the buggy containing a large quantity of pills that turned out to be MDMA (a psychotropic substance derived from amphetamines with both hallucinogenic and stimulant effects, better known as ecstasy), reaching 920 units, and other quantities of hashish, methamphetamine and marijuana.
For these events, the driver of the tow truck van, a British national, was arrested and brought before the court the following day, where he was ordered to be held in pretrial detention.
