18 kilos of cocaine and two kilos of hashish were seized from a vehicle in the port of Palma

  • The drugs were found in a false bottom under the car during the disembarkation of a ferry from Valencia.

  • The driver, a 60-year-old man, has been arrested for an alleged crime against public health.

April 24, 2026. Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency, in a joint operation with agents of the Civil Guard of the Balearic Islands, have seized 18 kilos of cocaine and two kilos of hashish in a false bottom in the undercarriage of a vehicle in the port of Palma.

The operation, called 'Tebal', took place this morning during a random tax check operation at the West Dock of the port of Palma. The control focused on the disembarkation of a regular line ship from Valencia.

The operation involved Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and officers from the Fiscal Investigation Analysis Unit (Uaiff) of the port of Palma and the Security Unit of the Command (Usesic) of the Civil Guard, who had the fundamental support of a canine guide.

During the vehicle inspection, the drug-detecting dog insistently indicated a specific area of ​​one of the cars. Based on the evidence detected, the agents carried out a thorough search which led to the discovery of a sophisticated false bottom in the undercarriage of the car.

Inside the hidden compartment were found 15 packages of cocaine, weighing a total of 18 kilos, and four packages of hashish weighing two kilos.

As a result of the discovery, the driver of the vehicle, a 60-year-old Spanish man, was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking offense. Both the detainee and the seized substance have been placed at the disposal of the court.
