April 9, 2026. Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency and agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Fiscal and Border Analysis and Information Unit of the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Udaiff), within the framework of operation 'Hermit', have arrested a man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health after dismantling the farm where he cultivated, processed and distributed the drug for later sale.

The investigation began in November of last year based on prior information coordinated by the Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In the first phase, the necessary clues and evidence were obtained to subsequently proceed with the dismantling of the farm, where different quantities of narcotic substance, cash and tools used for cultivation and processing were seized. Among them were 696 marijuana plants, one kilo of marijuana buds, 606 grams of plants mixed with marijuana buds, 1.4 kilos of hashish, 211 cigarettes supposedly of marijuana, nine grams of 'rosin', seven jars containing cannabis sativa syrup or hashish derivatives, 1,500 euros of cash and a mobile phone.

To dismantle the farm, a large operation was established involving officials from the Tenerife Operational Unit of Customs Surveillance, along with Civil Guard units specializing in fiscal investigation such as the Udaiff and the Pafif of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, all belonging to the Fiscal and Border Section of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Command, all acting in a coordinated manner with the main objective of neutralizing the illegal plantation.

Thanks to this operation, an infrastructure for the cultivation and processing of illegal substances has been completely dismantled. Investigations are currently ongoing to determine the distribution method and end-use of the seized narcotic substance.

The detainee, who has a record for the same type of crime, along with the seized substances and effects, have been presented before the competent judicial authority.
