January 27, 2026. Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency, the Civil Guard and the National Police, in a joint operation called 'Galpón/Zalied/Boksi', have dismantled a solid criminal structure dedicated to the transport and sale of cocaine that connected the O Salnés region with the metropolitan area of A Coruña.

The investigation began in March 2025. After detecting a route for the entry of narcotics into the city of A Coruña, the Edoa of the Civil Guard Command of A Coruña and the Udyco of the National Police of A Coruña established a joint team.

The investigation revealed that the center of operations in the city was a high-end shoe and sportswear store. According to investigators, those in charge of the business used the commercial activity as a front for the direct sale of narcotic substances.

The progress of the operation revealed that the distributors in A Coruña were supplied through an individual with a long criminal record, residing in Pontevedra. This subject was being investigated simultaneously by Udyco 1 of Vigo, Udyco 1 of Pontevedra and the Customs Surveillance Operational Unit of Vigo.

The coordination between all the units made it possible to discover that the main supplier was in turn collaborating with two individuals from the Lourizán area, who had the logistical capacity to move large quantities of cocaine from the O Salnés region.

A warehouse for drug exchange

The investigators detected different transports of narcotics by cart. After identifying the main people involved, a warehouse-type building was located in the vicinity of Pontevedra that was being used by the organization for the exchange of packages of cocaine.

After several surveillance operations, the frequency of the shipments and the 'modus operandi' of those under investigation were identified. On January 15th, a suspect was caught hiding a bag that could contain narcotics in the side of the shed. After confirming the initial suspicions, the bag was seized, which turned out to contain two packages of one kilo of cocaine each.

Following these events, surveillance was intensified. Thus, on January 16, one of the vehicles under investigation was detected traveling on the AP-9 motorway towards Coruña. After analyzing its origin, it was decided to intercept the vehicle and identify its occupant. It was confirmed that he was another of the main suspects and it was discovered that he was carrying three packages of one kilo of cocaine each in the vehicle.

Searches and arrests

On January 20, in anticipation of the imminent distribution of a shipment of drugs, the operation was launched under the supervision of the Court of Instruction Number 3 of A Coruña.

The final result of the operation has been the arrest of eight people for alleged crimes of belonging to a criminal organization and drug trafficking and 12 raids and searches in properties in A Coruña, Arteixo, Ferrol and Pontevedra. In addition, approximately 5.5 kilos of high-purity cocaine, various quantities of marijuana, cutting agents, nearly 40,000 euros in cash, several high-end vehicles used for drug transport, an extendable baton, and an electronic control device ('taser') were seized.

The success of this operation has been fundamental to the coordinated work of the aforementioned units, also highlighting the participation of the Greco of Galicia of the National Police for the dismantling of the branches of the organization.

The detainees, along with the proceedings and the seized material, have been placed at the disposal of the court. After giving their statements, the judicial authority has ordered the imprisonment of seven of the eight detainees as alleged perpetrators of the crimes under investigation.
