Ten people arrested and various narcotics, firearms and ammunition seized
February 25, 2026. A joint investigation team made up of the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency in Almería, the National Police, and the Civil Guard, has dismantled a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking, based in the town of Macael.
The investigation, which has lasted for several months and has had judicial authorization, made it possible to identify a structured group that was dedicated to the acquisition and distribution of large quantities of cocaine throughout the province of Almería, as well as to other points in the national territory.
During one of the joint operations, a property used by the head of the organization as a laboratory to press, dry and package cocaine was located. An emergency search was requested, and once authorized, a total of 34 kilos of cocaine were found in that farmhouse.
As a result of this discovery, ten more raids were carried out, where more narcotics, firearms and large sums of cash were seized, reflecting the high purchasing power of those now detained.
In total, ten people have been arrested as part of this operation, and 92.5 kilos of cocaine, 14.24 kilos of hashish and 13.67 kilos of marijuana have been seized, and, to a lesser extent, other synthetic drugs. Seven firearms (four short and three long) and multiple rounds of ammunition for them were also seized, as well as 634,924 euros in cash.
The investigation remains open and is under seal.
The detainees were brought before the court of the sole court of Purchena.
