241 counterfeit high-end brand watches seized at Tenerife North Airport

  • The passenger, who was carrying the watches inside his luggage, is being investigated for a crime against industrial property.

February 26, 2026. The Tax Agency and agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Fiscal and Borders Section of the Tenerife North-City of La Laguna Airport, acting together with the Customs and Excise Administrator. The Tax Agency has initiated proceedings in which they are investigating a man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against industrial property.

During the prevention, surveillance and control service that the Civil Guard agents specializing in tax matters provide at the arrival of passengers from different flights to Tenerife North airport, a passenger raised suspicions due to his nervous attitude.

After interviewing this individual, the agents decided to search his luggage, finding inside a total of 241 counterfeit watches from three well-known high-end brands.

The proceedings carried out, along with the seized watches, have been made available to the Customs Administrator of the Tax Agency, who has informed the affected brands of their rights as injured parties.

Counterfeit goods pose a significant threat to the affected economic sectors and, sometimes, also to user safety and health.

Therefore, with these types of seizures, the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard reaffirm once again their commitment to the fight against industrial property crimes, as well as the need to raise consumer awareness about the negative consequences of purchasing counterfeit products.
