February 5, 2026. Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard, in a joint operation, have dismantled a drug production center hidden in a bunker under a shower tray in a house in Vegas del Genil (Granada). As a result of this operation, six people between the ages of 27 and 67 have been arrested and 66 marijuana plants, 368 flowerpots whose plants had been recently cut, 480 grams of marijuana buds and 25 grams of marijuana have been seized.

Investigators learned that a drug production center might be hidden in a house in the town of Vegas del Genil, so they launched a joint investigation to try to confirm this fact.

During the investigation they obtained sufficient evidence to support these suspicions, so they requested judicial authorization to enter and search the home, which was carried out with the support of the Citizen Security Unit of the Civil Guard of Granada.

Once inside, the agents found marijuana buds in different rooms, although at first they did not locate the possible production center in any of them. After a thorough search of each room in the house, the officers noticed irregularities in the shower tray of a bathroom. Upon closer inspection, they discovered, after lifting it, an entrance to an underground bunker containing 66 marijuana plants, 368 pots whose plants had been recently cut, 480 grams of marijuana buds, and 25 grams of marijuana residue.

This operation also involved the collaboration of technicians from the electricity company and the water supplier, both of whom confirmed that there were illegal connections in the house.

Likewise, the agents informed the city council of the existence of this hideout, built without the corresponding permits. After being inspected by an expert, the city council itself initiated a sanctioning procedure.

Finally, the investigators proceeded to arrest six people as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health for the cultivation and processing of drugs, another crime of electricity fraud and a third crime of water fraud.
