March 4, 2026. Customs Surveillance officials from the Tax Agency, the Civil Guard and the National Police have carried out Operation 'Itálica 127/Greenborder' in the Sevillian town of Marinaleda, which resulted in the dismantling of 40 indoor marijuana plantations, the seizure of 5,000 marijuana plants, with a total weight of 480 kilos, and the arrest of 18 people for crimes against public health, illegal possession of weapons and electricity fraud.
This action was the result of the technical operation and analysis of the information obtained by the investigators after the creation of a joint working team between the three agencies, within the framework of the fight against drug trafficking in the province, with the collaboration of the affected electricity company that detected the electricity fraud.
During the deployment, coordinated and authorized by the Civil and Instruction Section of the Court of First Instance of Estepa, 17 entries and searches were carried out. The officers involved confirmed the existence of an infrastructure dedicated to the intensive cultivation of narcotics.
As a result of the operation, 40 indoor plantations have been dismantled with a total of 5,000 marijuana plants seized, in different stages of flowering, with a total weight of 480 kilos. Simultaneously, during the searches, a 12-gauge long firearm with live ammunition, a simulated handgun, and 15,000 euros in cash were seized, as well as tools and equipment used for the production and cultivation of the plantation, and the electrical installations used for the fraudulent cultivation in the homes were removed.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 18 people, 14 men and 4 women, as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health for drug trafficking, crimes of illegal possession of weapons and electricity fraud.
The police deployment is part of the collaboration and joint work of the different forces in the fight against the proliferation of drug trafficking in the province of Seville. The operation was carried out by the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency in Cordoba, the Fiscal and Borders Section of the Port Fiscal Company of the Civil Guard of Seville (Udaiff), the National Police of the Écija Police Station and technicians from the electric company whose work was crucial for the dismantling of the illegal connections due to the serious risk of fire.
The investigation remains open and further police action is not ruled out based on the analysis of the information obtained during the exploitation of the device.
