Two people arrested for drug trafficking in Menorca

  • Three parcel shipments containing six kilos of marijuana buds prepared for distribution have been intercepted.

May 13, 2026. Officials from the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and Civil Guards from the Fiscal and Border Analysis and Investigation Unit (Udaiff) of the Menorca airport, have arrested two men in the town of Ferreries for a drug trafficking offense related to postal shipments.

The operation began last April, when investigators from Customs Surveillance and the Civil Guard, as part of a parcel inspection service, intercepted three shipments containing marijuana buds presented in multiple packages perfectly packaged and prepared for distribution, weighing approximately six kilos.

Following these events, the investigators took the necessary steps to identify, locate, and arrest the sender. Thus, on May 4th, they proceeded to arrest two men, aged 30 and 21, of Spanish nationality, for a drug trafficking offense.

The following day, the detainees were brought before the competent judicial authority in the Mahón Courts, which ordered the 30-year-old man to be imprisoned and the other detainee to be released on bail.

As part of the fight against drug trafficking, officials from the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and agents from the Fiscal and Border Analysis and Investigation Unit of the Port of Palma aim to act on possible smuggling routes and the introduction of narcotic substances hidden in goods destined for the Balearic Islands.
