International customs cooperation between Spain and France made the operation possible, which ended with two arrests after a controlled delivery of the drugs under judicial supervision.
May 29, 2026. The Risk Analysis Unit (UAR) of the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport, a joint team made up of officials from the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and agents of the Civil Guard, has seized almost 15 kilos of cocaine at the Madrid-Barajas airport. In addition, two people have been arrested as those responsible for the events in a controlled delivery of the drugs. The operation was made possible thanks to international customs cooperation between Spain and France.
The intervention began on May 7, when the Risk Analysis Unit of the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport received information from the French customs authorities about the contents of the suitcases of two passengers bound for Madrid and originating from Lima. During the passengers' stopover in Paris, French authorities detected a substance inside their checked luggage that tested positive for cocaine in the drug test.
Upon receiving the notification and carrying out the relevant procedures, an operation was conducted to identify and track the two passengers involved. Once his arrival in Madrid was confirmed, the baggage claim was witnessed and his registration at a hotel on the outskirts of the city was verified.
Upon request for international controlled delivery, the controlled delivery operation was organized at the time of the arrival of the suitcases.
The following morning, the joint operation was set up by officials from the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency and the Fiscal and Border Unit of the Civil Guard in Madrid, who proceeded to the controlled delivery of the drugs and the arrest of the two passengers. Both were then brought before the court. The police report was presented to the judicial authority on May 10, certifying the seizure of almost 15 kilos of cocaine.
