The Tax Agency seizes 2.5 tonnes of hashish in Murcia

Six people have been arrested

August 5, 2008 . The Tax Agency seized 2,500 kilograms of hashish in the early hours of Monday, August 4, in an operation against drug trafficking carried out by officials from the Combined Customs Surveillance Unit of Malaga.

The operation was carried out around 05:00 hours on 08/04/2008 jointly by one of the helicopters and the boats assigned to the Regional Customs and Excise Department of Andalusia, which boarded a fishing vessel when it It headed to the port of La Caleta de Vélez, containing the narcotic substance inside its warehouses.

The six crew members of the boat, two of Moroccan nationality and four of Spanish nationality, were arrested as alleged perpetrators of a crime of smuggling and against public health. The people arrested along with the boat were taken to the port of Malaga.

Once the facts have been brought to the attention of the Judicial Authority and the entry and registration has been authorized by the Court of Instruction no. 2 on guard duty in Malaga, an exhaustive reconnaissance of the vessel was carried out, which resulted in the discovery of a total of eighty packages containing hashish resin, with a total weight of approximately 2,500 kilograms.

Both the drugs and the seized vessel and the detainees will be placed at the disposal of the Malaga Investigative Court on guard duty.

This arrest is part of a special surveillance device developed by Customs Surveillance officials, which aims to fight against the smuggling of sensitive merchandise and against drug trafficking, throughout the entire Spanish geography.
