Income Tax Campaign. The Tax Agency has refunded 8.676 billion euros to 11.7 million personal income tax filers up to 31 July. 80% of the refunds to taxpayers from the 2007 Income Tax Campaign have already been paid.

August 5, 2008. The Tax Agency has paid out –up to July 31- 8.676 billion euros to 11.7 million taxpayers of Personal Income Tax (IRPF), which represents an increase of 16.27 percent in amount and 13.46 percent in number of refunds compared to those made in the same period last year. With these refunds, more than 80 percent of taxpayers are entitled to a refund from the 2007 Income Tax Campaign.

During the campaign as a whole, 18.1 million personal income tax returns were filed, 6.6 percent more than the previous year. Of these, 5.6 million were submitted online, 25 percent more than the previous year. A total of 13.2 million tax data and drafts were also sent, and for the 2008 personal income tax campaign, a further 15.5 million tax data and drafts have been requested.
