January 13, 2009. Until December 31, 2008, the Tax Agency made 493,949 payments of 2,500 euros for the birth or adoption of children, for a total of 1,233 million euros. Andalusia, Madrid and Catalonia are the autonomous communities with the highest number of births or adoptions.

To present the communication of the collection of the 2,500 euros, there are two procedures:

1. When the beneficiary carries out a paid activity for which he or she is registered with Social Security or Mutual Insurance and does not reside in either the Basque Country or Navarra

   If the advance payment of the maternity deduction is requested, the presentation of application form 140 to request the collection of the 100 euros per month implicitly implies that the payment of the new tax deduction of 2,500 euros is also being requested. Those who have already requested the payment of the 100 euros do not have to do any more.

   Form 140 can be obtained online ( sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es ) and also in the Delegations and Administrations of the Tax Agency, in civil registries and in other public organizations. The model can be presented electronically (with electronic signature certificate or electronic DNI), in print or by telephone (901200345).

   If you wish to make the request by telephone, you must provide the DNI number, the amount entered in box 681 of the personal income tax return, the date of birth or adoption of the child, the Social Security or mutual insurance membership number and the checking account number.

2. When the beneficiary does not carry out a paid activity and is not registered with Social Security, or resides in the Basque Country or Navarra

   In this case, form 141 must be submitted, which is available on the Internet (sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es www.seg-social.es) and at the Tax Agency offices and in the Social Security Attention and Information Centers. The form can be presented at these offices or at any other public office.

   In the form, in addition to the identification data of the mother (or beneficiary) and the child, and the beneficiary's checking account, information must be included about the Civil Registry in which the birth or adoption was registered and the Volume and Page in the one in which the registration has been made
