The Tax Agency seizes 3,300 kilos of hashish on the beach of Valencia

The operation began yesterday, when a large inflatable boat was detected south of Alicante

January 16, 2009. The Tax Agency has seized 3,300 kilos of hashish on Brosquil beach, in Cullera (Valencia), thanks to the control and monitoring of a large inflatable boat, loaded with hashish, which was heading to the Valencian coast.

The operation was launched yesterday afternoon, after the Tax Agency's aerial resources located the suspicious vessel south of Alicante. The facts have been reported to the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 4 of Sueca and the investigations are still open, with arrests not ruled out in the next few hours.

So far this year, Customs Surveillance officers have removed some 8,000 kilos of hashish from the illegal market on the Levante coast. Since the beginning of 2009, the Customs Department has implemented a strategic plan with the aim of optimising the performance of human and material resources assigned to the Department throughout the national territory.
