The Tax Agency seizes 3,000 kilos of hashish in the province of Seville

The operation is a consequence of the special control device carried out by Customs Surveillance in Andalusia

June 22, 2009 . The Tax Agency seized 3,000 kilograms of hashish on the 14th in an operation against drug trafficking carried out by Customs Surveillance officials of Cádiz.

The operation, called “Medusa”, began on the afternoon of June 14 when a surveillance device detected a semi-rigid inflatable boat, 8 meters long and equipped with 3 engines, which was sailing towards the coast of Sanlúcar. from Barrameda (Cádiz). At night, the guarded target headed towards the mouth of the Guadalquivir River, beginning to navigate upstream.

Around one in the morning on June 15, the smuggling boat ran aground near the Sevillian town of Puebla del Río and it was decided to intervene simultaneously by sea and air.

The operation involved the seizure of a significant cache of drugs that, after an exhaustive count, revealed a weight of 3,000 kilos of hashish resin, distributed in 100 bales with similar characteristics. The alleged drug traffickers managed to flee, although the investigation remains open, so it is not ruled out that there will be an arrest in the coming hours. Both the drugs and the seized vessel have been placed at the disposal of the Coria del Río Court (Seville), on guard duty.

Operation “Medusa” is part of a special surveillance device developed by Customs Surveillance officials of the Tax Agency, which aims to combat the smuggling of sensitive merchandise and drug trafficking.
