The Tax Agency refunds over 10,100 million euros to 14.3 million taxpayers

- By the end of December, more than 95% of refund requests had been fulfilled and the amount of refunds exceeded 90%

- Of the total number of drafts and declarations, 10,700,000 have been submitted online, 20% more than last year

More than 14.3 million Personal Income Tax (IRPF) taxpayers have received, at the end of 2012, the refund corresponding to the 2011 Income Tax campaign, which means that 95.1% of all refunds requested (just over 15 million) have already been paid. In terms of total amounts, the Tax Agency has reimbursed taxpayers more than 10.1 billion euros, 90.4% of the amount requested. Compared to the closing of the previous campaign (Income Tax 2010), the number of refunds fell by 0.8% and the amount by 3%.

In the 2011 Income Tax Campaign, just over 19.5 million declarations were submitted, of which 10.7 million, 55%, were submitted online, which represents nine points more than last year (46%). According to data as of December 31, while the total number of declarations grew by 1.1% compared to the previous year, online filings increased by 20.5%.

Of the 8.5 million IRPF drafts submitted, 4.9 million have been sent to the Tax Agency online, 33.3% more than last year. Of the remaining 11 million declarations, 5.8 million have also been submitted electronically, 11.4% more than a year ago.

The significant improvement in online filings is justified by the changes incorporated this year on the Agency's website with the aim of facilitating online access to the REN0 system for quick obtaining of the draft and tax data, as well as to speed up the filing of the drafts and Income Tax returns themselves. In this campaign, the REN0 service had been used by 12.6 million taxpayers, 92.4% more than last year.
