The Tax Agency has already refunded over 3.7 billion euros to 5.5 million Income Tax payers
Income Tax Campaign 2012
The Tax Agency has already refunded over 3.7 billion euros to 5.5 million Income Tax payers
- More than 77% of the refunds requested have already been paid, which is eleven points more than last year on the same dates
- 80% of the 8.2 million declarations received have been submitted online, compared to 70% registered the previous campaign
- The drafts presented reach 5.3 million, highlighting the online confirmations, which grew by 16% compared to the last campaign, driven by the expansion of the draft profile
- The REN0 service has been used so far by almost 12 million taxpayers, 14.5% more than the previous year
June 3, 2013.- The Tax Agency has already returned, as of May 31, 3,733 million euros, corresponding to more than 5,530,000 taxpayers, in the Tax campaign on Personal Income Tax (IRPF) of 2012. 77% of the refunds requested have already been paid to the taxpayer, eleven points more than last year on the same dates. This acceleration in the pace of refunds paid, which grew by 16% both in number and amount, is especially significant if the evolution of the number of refunds requested is taken into account (-0.4%, in line with the fall in 0.95% estimated for the entire campaign).
The main determining factor in the acceleration of returns is the strong increase registered, also this year, in the use of the Internet, both for the confirmation of drafts and declarations with the PADRE aid program, with an increase in presentations by electronic means. of 16% and 17%, respectively.
Thus, as of May 31, of the almost 8.3 million declarations (including drafts and other declarations) already presented, 6.7 million, 80%, have been submitted online, bringing the weight of This way of presentation on the total is growing ten points in one year. In the last campaign, around the same time, the proportion of presentations via telematic means was 70% and two years ago it did not reach 60% of the total.
The acceleration of online filings continues to be seen, in turn, in the returns to be entered, with a growth of 11% in number and 27% in amount compared to the same dates last year.
This strong increase in the use of the Internet for the presentation of drafts and income tax returns is also related to the greater use of the REN0 service. As of May 31, the express service for quickly obtaining the draft and tax data had already been used by 11.9 million taxpayers, 14.5% more than last year.
Appointment service
In any case, for those taxpayers who do not wish to use the internet to submit their Income, as every year the Tax Agency makes its in-person offices and telephone services available. At the end of May, more than 1.9 million prior appointments had been made to prepare income tax returns and more than 5.1 million telephone calls had been answered.
As in other years, and despite the growing use of the internet as a way to streamline Income Tax procedures, in the first weeks of the in-person campaign there has been a high demand for the appointment request service. The appointment calendar opens progressively, so taxpayers are recommended to gradually use the service.
At the same time, in order to mitigate as far as possible a possible loss of appointments to the detriment of all taxpayers, the Tax Agency wants to remind citizens that they can modify the time and day assigned for their appointment, or communicate , in their case to the Agency itself, who have decided not to use it. Currently, in more than 25% of appointments granted more than a week in advance, the taxpayer ultimately does not show up.
The appointment service will be maintained until July 1, the last day of the campaign. The online filing route ( sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es ) remains available to taxpayers who prefer to expedite their procedures without having to travel to the Agency's offices or collaborating entities.
It is expected that this campaign will have 19,525,000 declarations, of which 14,935,000 will give the right to a refund, for a total amount of 10,665 million euros, and 4,100,000 declarations will come out with results to be deposited, for an amount of 6,525 million of euros.
Taxpayers who are not obliged to file a tax return
- The same regulations are maintained as the previous year regarding those required to submit the personal income tax return. In general terms, taxpayers with income exclusively from work up to an amount of 22,000 euros per year are not obligated.
The limit for not declaring is reduced to 11,200 euros if the income comes from more than one payer (with exceptions), and also when compensatory pensions from the spouse or non-exempt annuities for alimony are received, when the payer is not obliged to withhold and when The returns are subject to a fixed withholding rate.
Both limits remain valid to not declare if the taxpayer has, instead, or in addition, the following income:
- Dividends, interest and capital gains subject to tax withholding, up to a combined limit of 1,600 euros.
- Imputed real estate income, full income from movable capital not subject to withholding derived from Treasury bills and subsidies for the acquisition of officially protected or appraised-price housing, with a joint limit of 1,000 euros.
- As in the previous year, taxpayers who have income from work, capital and economic activities, as well as capital gains, will not be obligated either, with the joint limit of 1,000 euros, along with capital losses of less than 500 euros.
How and when to modify the pre-populated Income Tax return form
The draft declaration should always be checked carefully as the Tax Agency might not have had all the relevant information when it was prepared and any such information has to be added by the taxpayer. Details such as the following should be checked carefully:
- Properties and their land registry reference numbers
- Personal and family circumstances (if they changed in 2012)
- Contributions to pension plans
- Payment of union fees
- Amounts received as grants
- Maternity deduction
- Deduction for investment in residence
- Deduction for renting main home
- Deduction for contributions to the home savings account
- Autonomous Community deductions
With the aim of self- for the taxpayer, a total of 14 explanatory videos that show how to modify the Income draft in the most common cases.
