The Tax Agency has carried out over 84% of the IRPF refunds requested by taxpayers
The 2013 Income Campaign has concluded
- At the end of July, 7.67 billion euros have been returned to more than 12 million taxpayers
- The weight of online filing has grown by more than ten points in just one year, reaching 72.8%
August 5, 2014.- As of July 31, the Tax Agency has already refunded €7.67 billion to 12,038,000 taxpayers, meaning that 84% of the refunds requested in the 2013 Personal Income Tax (IRPF) campaign have already been paid, above the levels of the previous year on the same date (82.8%). The amount returned is also accelerating, now reaching 72% of the total requested. This acceleration occurs in a context of fewer requested returns, both in number (-2.4%) and in amount (-2%).
With almost all tax returns that were not yet accounted for at the close of the Income Tax Campaign on June 30 now incorporated, more than 19,149,000 returns have been submitted, 0.7% less than in the previous year's campaign.
Of this total, more than 13,939,000, or 72.8%, have filed their returns online, a method used by almost two million more taxpayers than in the previous campaign (+16%). In just one year, the weight of declarations submitted online over the total, including both draft IRPF returns and declarations submitted with PADRE and other assistance programs, has grown by more than ten points, and in the last three campaigns the increase is more than 25 percentage points (47% in the 2010 IRPF campaign, submitted in 2011).
Compared to last year, the increase in online filings is concentrated in the declarations that are prepared with the different existing aid programs and with the tax data provided by the Tax Agency, registering an increase of more than 28%, which occurs in the year in which important improvements have been introduced in the PADRE program to facilitate its use and speed up filing, compared to a growth of slightly more than 2% in drafts confirmed online.
Regardless of the method of submission, of the total number of declarations, more than 8.5 million are confirmed drafts, with a reduction of 3.7%, and more than 10.5 million are the remaining declarations, with an increase of 1.8%. During the 2013 Income Tax campaign, the Tax Agency has made more than 23.5 million tax forms and data available to citizens and has answered more than 6,100,000 calls related to the declaration of personal income tax.
Wealth Tax
In parallel to the IRPF campaign, the Wealth Tax campaign has been carried out, which had to be declared by those taxpayers with a tax to pay (after applying the corresponding deductions and bonuses) and also by those without a tax to pay, but who last year had assets and rights with a value greater than 2 million euros.
After incorporating the pending filings to be accounted for, just over 178,000 asset declarations have been registered, of which more than 150,000 have resulted in payment, for an amount of more than 921 million euros.
