2015 Income Tax Campaign
- 83% of refunds and 72% of the amounts requested have already been paid to taxpayers
- 81% of the declarations have been submitted online, 1,219,000 more than in the previous campaign and almost 48% more than five years ago, when measures to promote the electronic route began to be reinforced.
- Of the total number of applications, 9.7 million have been made through the new 'RENTA WEB' platform
August 1, 2016.- As of July 29, the Tax Agency has already returned €7.877 billion to 12,157,000 taxpayers, meaning that 83% of the refunds and 72% of the amounts requested in the Personal Income Tax (IRPF) campaign for the 2015 fiscal year have already been paid. Paid refunds increased by 1.3% in number and 3% in value compared to the same period last year, in line with the year-on-year increase in refund requests and their value.
With almost all of the tax returns that were not yet accounted for at the close of the Income Tax Campaign on June 30 now incorporated, more than 19,469,000 returns have been submitted, 1% more than in the previous campaign at the same time, confirming the recovery in the number of IRPF declarants that began then.
More than 15,870,000 returns, 81.5% of the total, have been filed online, a filing method used by 1,219,000 more taxpayers than the previous year and almost 48% more than five years ago, when measures were first strengthened to promote the electronic method as the main method of filing, streamlining taxpayers' procedures and, where applicable, any corresponding refunds.
More than 9.7 million declarations with 'RENTA WEB'
This streamlining of the filing process has been boosted by the use of the new 'RENTA WEB' platform as the main tool for taxpayers to prepare and file their returns.
After incorporating almost all the declarations, more than 9,722,000 declarations have been submitted using the new platform, which represents an increase of 15.5% compared to the number of online draft submissions that the Agency had recorded on the same dates last year.
In contrast, filings under the 'PADRE' programme have fallen by more than 10%, due to the reduction in the group of taxpayers who this year have continued to be obliged to file their tax return under the traditional aid programme offered by the Tax Agency.
Wealth Tax
In parallel to the Personal Income Tax Campaign, the Agency has developed the campaign for Wealth Tax, which must be declared by taxpayers who owe taxes (after applying relevant deductions and discounts) and by taxpayers who do not owe taxes but who last year had assets and rights worth over 2 million euros.
After incorporating the pending filings to be accounted for, just over 188,300 asset declarations have been registered, of which more than 163,000 have resulted in payment, for an amount of more than 995 million euros.
