The Tax Agency has already returned more than 10,200 million to 14.1 million payers of Personal Income Tax

2015 Income Tax Campaign

  • At the end of the year, more than 96% of the refunds and 94% of the amounts requested have already been paid.
  • 15,917,000 tax returns have been filed online, 1,232,000 more than in the previous campaign and 48% more than in the 2011 IRPF campaign, when measures to promote the electronic route began to be reinforced.

January 4, 2017.- As of December 30, the Tax Agency has already completed 96.4% of the refunds corresponding to the 2015 Income Tax Campaign, so that, at the end of last year, more than 14,100,000 Personal Income Tax (IRPF) filers had obtained their refund, 1% more than at the same date last year. The total amount returned amounts to 10.207 billion euros, 94% of the total requested and 3.25% more than at the same time last year.

A total of 19,551,000 declarations were filed in the last Income Tax Campaign, 0.69% more than in the previous one at the same time, which confirms the recovery of the number of IRPF declarants that began then.

Of the total number of declarations, more than 15,917,000 have been submitted online, a method of submission used by 1,232,000 more taxpayers than in the previous campaign and almost 48% more than in the 2011 Personal Income Tax campaign, when measures were first reinforced to promote the electronic method as the main method of submission, speeding up taxpayers' procedures and, where applicable, any corresponding refunds.

This streamlining of filing has been promoted in the latest campaign by the use of the new 'RENTA WEB' platform as the main tool for the preparation and filing of declarations by taxpayers.

More than 9,743,000 tax returns have been submitted using this new platform, which represents an increase of more than 15% compared to the number of draft returns that the Agency had recorded in the previous campaign.

In contrast, filings with the 'PADRE' programme and equivalent assistance services have fallen by almost 11%, due to the reduction in the group of taxpayers who in the last campaign have continued to be obliged to file their declaration with the traditional assistance programme.
