The Tax Agency confiscates 3.6 tonnes of hashish on a fishing boat in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz)
New blow to drug trafficking
- Two people have been arrested
- Four tons of hashish have been seized in two operations in Sanlúcar and San Pedro de Alcántara (Málaga)
- A fishing boat, an all-terrain vehicle and a semi-rigid boat were seized in both operations.
August 21, 2019 .- The Tax Agency has seized 3,600 kilos of hashish on a fishing boat in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz), in an operation carried out in the early hours of August 19 and in which its two crew members were arrested.
This operation began when the Tax Agency's Customs Surveillance aerial means detected on Sunday night a fishing boat of about 14 metres that did not follow the normal patterns of habitual behaviour in fishing tasks, so it could have been carrying an undetermined quantity of packages of the kind commonly used to transport hashish.
As a result, a corresponding operation was established in which different naval and aerial Customs resources participated, initiating a control device that led to the boarding of the fishing boat, off the coast of Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz).
It was observed that they were carrying a large number of bales in the area where the nets were located, which they tried to hide with them.
For this reason, its occupants were arrested and the vessel was taken to port for a thorough examination.
Once the drug was counted, 120 packages were found, with an approximate weight of 3,600 kilos of high-purity hashish, according to the field analysis carried out with a narcotest.
The two detainees, along with the seized drugs and the vessel, were placed at the disposal of the investigating court on duty in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz).
Second arrest in 24 hours
On the other hand, in the early hours of August 20, the air-naval surveillance operation established by Customs detected a semi-rigid boat sailing without lights heading towards the beaches of San Pedro de Alcántara in Malaga.
The control device has been activated, leading to the abort of the beach drop. Eleven packages of hashish weighing approximately 400 kilos have been seized, and a semi-rigid boat measuring approximately seven metres in length and a stolen all-terrain vehicle, which they were trying to transport the cargo with, have been seized. Although the perpetrators fled under cover of darkness, investigations are still underway to discover their identity.
These two operations are a consequence of the control device established by the Tax Agency to control illicit trafficking.
