A joint operation by the Tax Agency and the Guardia Civil

  • They used the beaches of Puente Mayorga (San Roque) to carry out the hashish shipments that arrived in semi-rigid boats.
  • They had houses located next to the sea so as not to be detected and to take refuge before and after the stashes.
  • All the leaders of the organization have been arrested

January 28, 2019 .- Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency and the Civil Guard of the 4th Zone in Andalusia, within the framework of the operational effort against drug trafficking that is being developed in the area of the Strait and its area of influence, have developed the police operation "FRENO" in which 32 people dedicated to large-scale hashish trafficking from North Africa to the coasts of Campo de Gibraltar have been arrested.

The investigation began last October, when a group of people living in the towns of San Roque, La Línea and Algeciras was detected, who were involved in drug trafficking, very active and who held meetings in the Puente Mayorga area (San Roque).

The investigations revealed the high level of specialization of the members of the organization, who constantly changed places to hide the drugs and the homes in which they settled before and after the stashes so as not to be detected.

It was also possible to see how they used a large number of people for security functions in the caches and aborted the moment they observed any movement by the security forces, turning the boats towards international waters, which made the police operation difficult.

The operation culminated in the seizure of a stash of hashish that had been brought onto the beach next to Callejón de los Rosales (San Roque). To load the drugs they had used two vehicles, which they had previously stolen and stored in a garage that also served as a storage facility in Taraguilla (San Roque). A handgun was also seized in that garage and a person who was working as a security guard was arrested.

After the shipment, as is a common practice for drug traffickers, they entered a house located next to the unloading site, so they proceeded to enter the house and arrested 32 people. In addition, a large amount of mobile phone and walkie-talkie equipment was seized and is currently being investigated.

With the arrests made, the organization under investigation is considered dismantled.
