November 28, 2020 .- Officials from the Tax Agency and agents from the National Police, in a joint operation, have arrested the five crew members of a 'drug boat' after a high-speed chase sea. Those arrested tried to get rid of the narcotic substance by throwing the bundles overboard. A total of 66 bales totaling 2,000 kilos of hashish were seized, in addition to various satellite phones and computer devices.

The intervention took place last week, when the National Police helicopter detected a 'narco-boat' sailing through the Mediterranean Sea about 80 miles off the coast of Cartagena. The boat, about 14 meters long and with two 300 HP engines, was crewed by five individuals and was approaching the beaches of Valencia with the purpose of unloading the bales of hashish it was carrying.

At that moment, a chase began alongside a Customs Surveillance patrol boat from the Tax Agency, which lasted more than five hours and 100 nautical miles, and which forced the crew members to get rid of the hashish, throwing the bales overboard. Finally, joint and coordinated action on the high seas allowed Customs Surveillance officials to rescue the thrown hashish, in addition to boarding the speedboat and arresting its five occupants.

As a result of the operation, 66 bales of hashish weighing 2,000 kilos, a high-speed boat, satellite phones and various computer devices were seized.
