May 13, 2022.- The Tax Agency and the Civil Guard have prevented the introduction into Spain of almost four tons of hashish, in two consecutive operations with a difference of less than 24 hours. In the framework of these actions, four people have been arrested and two boats, an all-terrain vehicle, a trailer and a van have been seized, with which the drug traffickers tried to flee by ramming the police vehicles.

The events took place in the early hours of May 1. Initially, Customs Surveillance officers from the Tax Agency and agents from OCON Sur of the Civil Guard, through the control means of both institutions, located a semi-rigid inflatable boat that was transferring bales to two small boats in an area near the Canela canal in Ayamonte (Huelva).

Once the loading was completed, the boats headed to the area where they intended to unload, followed by the acting forces. Finally, when they tried to flee, the boats were intercepted and the three crew members of the boats were arrested. During this operation, 63 burlap bales containing hashish were seized.

A few hours later, another semi-rigid inflatable boat was located, this time heading towards the capital of Huelva, where a control device was established that allowed the unloading on the Espigón beach and the subsequent loading of the drugs into a van and a trailer to be detected.

In the presence of the officers, the loaded van rammed the police vehicles and began to flee through the streets of the city, which led to a chase involving members of the Local Police and agents of the National Police, which ended with the interception of the van.

In this second operation, one person was arrested and both the van, which was loaded with packages of hashish, a trailer also loaded with packages and an all-terrain vehicle were seized. In this operation, a total of 61 bales of hashish were seized.

The Courts of First Instance and Instruction of Ayamonte on duty and of Huelva are aware of the facts under investigation and have ordered the imprisonment of the detainees.
