Frequently asked questions about the extension of authorizations in the office
Since the entry into force on April 2, 2021 of certain provisions of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, the powers that are registered in the Register of dispatch authorizations have a maximum validity period of five years.
Therefore, any power of attorney registered on or after April 2, 2021, is valid for 5 years.
Dispatch authorizations granted or received before April 2, 2021, may be successively extended by the principal for a maximum period of five years. If these powers are not extended, the dispatch authorizations will lose their effectiveness on April 2, 2026.
The powers of attorney for dispatch authorizations may be extended individually, for each attorney, at any time and with a maximum validity limit of 5 years from the day the extension is requested.
In the case of collective extensions (several attorneys at the same time), this option will appear as available to the principal two months before the expiration of the power of attorney in the dispatch authorization.
The extension is granted automatically once it has been requested.
The dispatch authorizations registered in the Dispatch Authorizations Registry can be extended by the principal through the Electronic Office >All procedures > Other services > Power of Attorney > Customs dispatch authorization > Consultation, extension and revocation of dispatch authorizations.
An option is available to simultaneously extend all powers of attorney that are due to expire in the next two months.
Furthermore, the possibility has been enabled for the attorney to extend by himself all the powers that are registered in his favor in customs clearance authorizations by signing a responsible declaration.
If the extension is not carried out before the end of the maximum validity period of the authorizations registered in the Registry, that is, before April 2, 2026 for those granted before April 2, 2021, and five years from their registration date for those granted on or after April 2, 2021, these will become ineffective.
