Sales, Employment and Wages in Large Companies and SMEs
The statistics on Sales, Employment and Wages in Large Companies and SMEs (VESGEP) offer aggregated information from the VAT and Withholding Tax returns for earned income of taxpayers considered Large Companies for tax purposes and SMEs in the form of public limited companies and limited liability companies.
The result of the exploitation of the monthly and quarterly declarations (with the nuances explained in these methodological notes) provides quarterly information on sales, exports, purchases, imports, employment and wages. This information is presented as series of levels in millions of euros, original and seasonally and calendar adjusted (CVEC).In addition, for the variables derived from the VAT models, deflated information is also presented.
This publication complements the information in the monthly statistics of Sales, Employment and Wages of Large Enterprises (VESGE).The differences with respect to the latter are basically twofold. The first is the increase in the population under study by incorporating part of the SMEs (corporate), from a group of some 32,000 large companies to a total of 1.1 million companies. The second, partly a consequence of the previous one, is the possibility of treating this group as a complete population, thus avoiding the need for the constant population analysis that is characteristic of the VESGE.
