Sales, Jobs and Wages in Large Enterprises and SMEs
The Statistics of Sales, Employment and Salaries in Large Companies and SMEs (VESGEP) offers aggregated information from the VAT and Withholding returns for work income of those considered large companies for tax purposes and of SMEs with the form of a public limited company and of limited liability.
The result of the exploitation of the monthly and quarterly statements (with the nuances explained in these methodological notes) provides quarterly information on sales, exports, purchases, imports, employment and salaries. This information is presented as a series of levels in millions of euros, original and corrected for seasonal and calendar variations (CVEC). Furthermore, for the variables derived from the VAT models, deflated information is also presented.
This publication complements the information from the monthly statistics of Sales, Employment and Salaries of Large Companies (VESGE). The differences with respect to the latter are basically two. The first is the increase in the population under study by incorporating a part of the SMEs (corporate companies), going from a group of about 32 thousand Large Companies to a total of 1.1 million companies. The second, partly a consequence of the previous one, is the possibility of treating this group as a complete population, thus avoiding the need for constant population analysis that is characteristic of VESGE.
